Montfort restaurant took its name from an historical landmark in the Middle East – Montfort Castle – built in 1226.
Montfort means “strong hill” or “mountain fortress” in French. It was built by French Crusaders who later sold it to the German crusader knights of the Teutonic order . Many tried to conquer the castle for years and in 1271 the Mamluk Sultan Baibars succeeded in their conquest. They let the castle inhabitants leave the Palace with their possessions. The Mamluk army eventually destroyed the palace to prevent further reoccupation of crusaders and left the ruins we see today.
In 2015, the Montfort family grew after Rebecca met Dr. Jad Amoury in Israel. Jad had been practicing dentistry for 15 years and since coming to Canada has joined the family business at Montfort. He has been running the show while Rebecca and he have started their own new family!
Jad has been welcomed warmly by the Montfort community….both staff and patrons and together, Jad and Rebecca will continue to work hard to see their new location grow thanks to they’re loyal customer base – you!
With these values instilled in our family, we know that the old is now the new… and what people still want and expect today is to eat fresh, healthy, yet affordable food. This is what Montfort represents and guarantees to this day.
I hope you enjoy your experience at Montfort and we look forward to seeing you again here at our new location, where Family is first!
